OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL
Why it's on the wall
Rocket League's kickoff scramble in a tab, now with the Roadster's hover jets for aerials. Pick the Roadster in the Garage first.
Written by Neon Gamewall. An opinion, not a player rating.
GAME BRIEF
What's the game?
An unofficial take on Rocket League's car soccer. PLAY opens an Exhibition where you pick 1v1 Duel or 2v2 Doubles, the bots' difficulty, your team and the match length (five minutes by default), then kick off in a packed stadium with a boost meter and a ball camera. Free Play lets you practise on your own. The Garage has two cars, the Fennec and the Roadster: 'hover jets, hold powerslide in the air', and the game reloads with your pick. We started in the Roadster against the Pro bot and scored straight from the kickoff.
BEFORE YOU PLAY
What to expect
Free, no account, and we saw no ads. About 35 MB before the first match. The credits on the menu call it an unofficial fan project: the Fennec and the ball are Rocket League models by Jako on Sketchfab (CC BY 4.0), and it says it is not endorsed by Epic Games, which owns Rocket League. It needs a keyboard or a controller; the game says there are no touch controls yet. It wants a graphics card: on a computer without one it crawled. The menu links the makers' Discord, universal-modder.
Controls: From the in-game table: W or ↑ drive, S or ↓ reverse, A and D steer, Space jump (Space plus a direction flips), boost on left mouse, Right Shift or K, Left Shift powerslide and air roll (Q and E roll), C ball camera, V look back, Tab scoreboard, Esc pause, R resets in Free Play. In the Roadster, hold F in the air for the hover jets. Controllers work and can be remapped.
IN THE NEWS
The story behind it
The Roadster in Soccar is the car Tesla revealed on October 15, 2026. On October 15, 2026, at a SpaceX test facility in Texas, Tesla showed the second-generation Roadster driving up a curved ramp upside down, flying off the end and rolling over to land on its wheels, then hopping over a Cybercab, Cybertruck, Semi, Model Y and Model 3. Tesla says a fan-based suction system holds the car to the road and cold-gas thrusters do the flying; Musk called it a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX. Musk said production starts in 2028; no price was announced, and Tesla's site says the flying version is not approved for public roads.
