What's the game?

Pick a weapon class on the menu (seven of them, starting with the EggK-47: 'the classic, high rate of fire, medium range, never jams'), press PLAY and you drop into a public match with a generated name. The default mode is Captula the Spatula, a team mode where both sides fight over a spatula (the Game Mode button changes it). Our test matches ran on Maze Runner After Dark and Crossed After Dark, dressed up with pumpkins this month, on a US West server full of other players. In a match, the share button gives you a link to bring friends in.

BEFORE YOU PLAY

What to expect

Free, with guest play: you get a random name and can sign in to keep progress and unlock chat. The page carries ads (AdInPlay), banners for the studio's other games, and a shop with paid items (an 'Eggstra Value Pack' for $1, VIP to remove ads); none of it is needed to play. About 30 MB to the menu and 45 MB in a match, ads included; a match took about 30 seconds to load on our slow software renderer. The site's own description says to try shellgame.me if shellshock.io is blocked. No AI build claim.

Controls: WASD move, mouse aim, left click fire, Shift aim down sights, Space jump, R reload, E swap weapon, Q grenade, F melee.
