Hometown Havoc
Run loose in real Latvian towns: Talsi, Rīga, Liepāja and Bauska rebuilt from map data, with shops, stairwells, cars to steal and police who come when you make trouble.
OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL
Why it's on the wall
A real Latvian town you can get into trouble in, down to the numbered mailboxes in the stairwells. Take a walk around before you start a chase.
Written by Neon Gamewall. An opinion, not a player rating.
GAME BRIEF
What's the game?
Pick a character and a home, then explore a real place: the Rīgas iela courtyards of Talsi, central Rīga, Liepāja or Bauska, built from OpenStreetMap and Latvian open map data. People keep daily routines and shops keep opening hours; you can walk into stairwells, ride bikes, steal a car and flip through its radio, shoot hoops or bonk passers-by with a stick. Witnesses raise wanted stars, police cars roll in, and at four or five stars SWAT and the army arrive. Money is in old Latvian lati, earned from returned bottles and coins on the ground.
BEFORE YOU PLAY
What to expect
The creator says he builds games with AI and that Talsi was built with AI; the in-game credits add that the radio songs were made with Suno and the DJ, ad and news voices with Piper text-to-speech. Free with no account, and no ads or purchases that we saw; menus are in Latvian and English. Heavy to load: about 70 MB before you are walking around Talsi, with more as you explore. Trouble is the point, GTA-style: you can steal cars and rob people, the police warn and then shoot, and there is a gambling hall with a slot machine (play money only). 'Play with friends' makes a private room for up to 16 from a link or code with just a nickname; chat is emotes and preset phrases only, and the game recommends 16+ for it. No public play count. Its help lists touch controls for phones (landscape, a left-thumb joystick); we only checked the menus on a phone-sized screen, so we don't mark it as phone-ready yet.
Controls: WASD or arrows move, mouse look, Shift sprint, C walk, Space jump, left click or F swing (click again for an overhead smash), E use or get in a car, wheel or Q switch item, R radio, M mute, Tab or I info, P or Esc pause; gamepad layout in its help.
