HALDANE-4
A short ASCII horror story: pilot a submersible under the Antarctic ice shelf in 1972, alone, with only a lamp.
OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL
Why it's on the wall
Proof that horror needs sound and darkness more than polygons. Play it at night with headphones.

GAME BRIEF
What's the game?
You operate HALDANE-4, a United States Antarctic Survey submersible, on a solo descent beneath the ice in 1972. The whole world is drawn in ASCII characters on an operator terminal, the sound is procedural, and the dark is the point: your lamp shows only what is close, and cutting the engine lets you go quiet. It won Cursor's Most Original prize at Cursor Vibe Jam 2026.
BEFORE YOU PLAY
What to expect
The creator's README calls it a procedural ASCII horror game vibecoded with Cursor and Claude Code, open-sourced to show how far that workflow goes on a one-person project. Under 5 MB, with no assets beyond procedural audio and an AI voice-over. Best on desktop with headphones; phones get a touch layout. No account.
Controls: WASD thrust, mouse to rotate, Space for the lamp, Shift cuts the engine.
