Cruising Bones
Bomb a mountain pass on a longboard with a crew of skeletons: downhill skate and street-luge races in hand-inked comic-book art, free in your browser.
OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL
Why it's on the wall
The best-looking downhill game we have played in a tab: every frame looks hand-inked, and a skeleton in a Hawaiian shirt tucking at 80 km/h never stops being funny. Perfect for Halloween week.

GAME BRIEF
What's the game?
Cruising Bones calls itself downhill for the dearly departed. Four skeleton riders (Aloha, who 'rides the pass every morning before the fog lifts', Dex, Sid and Nana) race down a mountain pass drawn like an old comic, and the story comes in comic panels too: in Chapter 1, First Light, the county bolts speed cameras to the Pass to get the crew off its road. Six courses are laid out as comic covers, each a chapter with a comic page at the start and the end, from Summit Sprint and The Endless Pass (a road that never ends) to Cowbell Meadows, Timber Line, Red Rock Gorge and Deep Woods Descent, with weather from clear to dusk, night, fog and rain. The maker's update notes list the hazards: black ice on the Summit hairpins and the Cornice Gap jump, cattle crossings and a jump through a barn in the Meadows, log trucks that drop their load on the Timber Line, rockfall and a dark tunnel in the Gorge, and in the Deep Woods night, fog, lanterns, the Lantern Man, Witch's Leap and a finish at the County cemetery gates. Events go from straight races to Roadblock, Rattler Run and Bone Train, where a rival crew, the Rattlers (Viper, Tic and Tac, Big Marrow), rides against you. Riders & Gear has outfits, decks, trucks and wheels, and skill points as you level up. We took Aloha down Summit Sprint with the tutorial on, tucked up to 81 km/h and wiped out on a hairpin, which is part of the fun: you slide to a stop, grab the board and drop back in.
BEFORE YOU PLAY
What to expect
Free in the browser with no account, no download and no ads we saw; the page loads only its own files and the Babylon.js 3D engine. About 44 MB had downloaded by the first race in Chrome. It is an early version (the title screen reads v88) and Multiplayer is marked SOON. No maker is named on the site. In his Reddit post (r/ClaudeAI) the maker says he started it on October 14, built it with Claude AI, Claude Code, Magnific, Tripo 'and some good ol' human imagination' on the BabylonJS engine, based the art on a 3D skeleton skateboarder he had made and 3D printed, and calls it an alpha he is sharing for feedback. The page has a layout for phones, but we played it on a computer.
Controls: From the in-game bar: Left / Right arrows lean, Up tucks (tap it to push), Down brakes and slides, Space puts a hand down, hitches a car or drops in, E switches stance, B boosts, C turns on the co-pilot, P pauses, Enter skips the story panels.
